Outlook Express 4 was the email program that came with Internet Explorer 4.0. It was recommended by a Microsoft representative that if you have OFFICE '97 that YOU DO NOT download OUTLOOK EXPRESS. This will remove some features that are in Office '97.

After Outlook express is installed, when you enter the program for the first time, it will ask you which mail program you would like to import your information from.  It appears in a dialog box which mail programs are installed.  Select the mail program you use for your Tabletoptelephone Internet account.  (It is probably Internet Mail, or Eudora Light. Importing is highly recommended.)  Once your files are imported you can go directly to send and receive and check your mail like you used to. 

If you need to setup an account in Outlook Express:

1. From the Menu bar, select Tools.
2. Scroll down and select Accounts. 
3. When you select accounts a small window will appear.
   At the top it will say ALL | MAIL| NEWS| DIRECTORY SERVICE
4. On the right hand side, select Add .   
5. A selection box will appear with Mail, News and Directory Service.
6. Select Mail.

Your Name
This first box will ask you how you wish your name to appear when you write other people.   You can make this anything you wish.  Full name is recommended for personal accounts.  If you are a couple sharing the account, you may want to put your last name only or Mr. & Mrs. Smith.   Select Next.

Internet Email Address
This box will be what your e-mail returns to.   

If you are an employee that has a virtual domain with us and you have your e-mail aliased to your account, you may include your domain as your return address. For example, say your user name is Sparrkee.   Your true email address is sparrkee@tabletoptelephone.com.  But you work for Surprise enterprises and they have a domain that  is Surprise.com.  If your email is aliased to your tabletoptelephone.com account you can put sparrkee@surprise.com in this section.

Email Server Names
Your incoming mail server is a POP3 Server.  There are no exceptions to this.
Your incoming mail server is mailhost.tabletoptelephone.com
Your outgoing mail server is mailhost.tabletoptelephone.com

Internet Mail Logon
This is the place where your user name and password are required to retrieve your mail.  Type in your user name and your password in lower case.   Do not Include a Upper case prefix.  For example if you need to use a "P"  in front of your username when dialing in, it does not get used on this screen.

Friendly Name
Choose a name for your email account.  We suggest "Tabletoptelephone Internet Email".

Choose Connection Type
Connect via third party dialer, it is set to "use a modem" which causes error messages.
If you connect to the Internet through a network server, choose "I use a LAN"
Click Next and then Finish.

Outlook Express is now configured to receive e-mail from your Tabletoptelephone Internet account.  If you have a dedicated or DSL connection, you will automatically retrieve your e-mail from the Tabletoptelephone Internet mail server when you launch Outlook Express.  If you have a dial-up connection, you will have to connect to the Internet first, then launch Outlook Express and receive your e-mail.
