Seligman, was established in 1886 as the connecting point of Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, with a long abandoned rail line extending south to Prescott. Seligman owes its name to the Seligman brothers, two New York bankers who helped finance the rail line south, although the original town was situated more than a mile to the southeast of its current location.
